Invite: Toshiba Consumer Product Launch on June 20
In a world where technology is an inevitable part of our daily lives, we all want to keep ourselves up to date with the latest trends on gadgets. I’ve used Toshiba Portege before and what I like about it, aside from the stylishly modern design, is its powerful cooling fans that maintain it’s temperature low even after almost 12 hours of continuous usage. Toshiba never fails to offer stylish designs that cater to a wide spectrum of consumers.
I just heard today that Toshiba is launching a new line of products on June 20. If ever, this will be my first time to attend such tech conference, similar to CES and other tech product launches.
Of course, I’ll post another entry on the new product line after the event, so watch out for that!

Time: 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Venue: Cirkulo, Pasay Road, Makati City
Yugatech partnered with Toshiba to include/invite about 100 of our readers here to attend their upcoming PC Launch (laptop/ultrabook) here in Makati.
Food and drinks will be served for dinner. There will be a short program where we raffle off Toshiba products to attendees (a Toshiba LED HDTV as top prize and Toshiba Portable HDDs). All 100 attendees will also get interesting tokens to bring home.
How’s that for an experience? Of course, the YugaTech editorial team will also be there for a little meet-and-greet.

New Social Media Marketing
The ever reliable ebay has already set the standard in online marketing. Auctions are now online. Even books and libraries are bought online. What is common with all these sort of products sold online is that they are based on a website. One needs to create an account for each of these websites to view and purchase the products.
However the new social media has changed the dynamics of online marketing. What is new about it is that it is online marketing made more social. Instead of paying for a search optimization service, the new social media has made online marketing easier and cheaper. How? Let us discuss some of the reasons that I could think of.
First. The new social media is a great avenue for marketing through grapevine and viral promotions. This is what young entrepreneurs are exploiting nowadays. As they have the expertise and knowledge of the new social media, they were able to create their own systems and mode of payments through various electronic services offered by banks, and other money transfer services.
Second. The new social media enables the customers to send their feedback real-time. This mechanism is highly effective for entrepreneurs can easily gauge the receptivity of their customers on their products. Customers can even send their designs online, thus empowering them and shifting the idea generation from the traditional to contemporary.
Third. This new platform also facilitates immediate response from the marketers and from the other customers as well. The owner also becomes more aware and can facilitate quality control of their products or services because of the reviews and comments posted on their sns accounts.
Fourth. As it narrows the gap between the customers and the entrepreneur, transaction between the two has become more human and less complex. Making transaction with the entrepreneur through the new social media, thus has transformed from being mass-based to becoming more personalized.
Fifth. Lastly, as almost everybody has social networking accounts, marketing is more effective because products and services and information about them are brought nearer to the customers. It does not only create a short-term effect, it also results in a long-term effect because bringing the product closer to the consumer and updating them with new product releases through the new social media creates brand loyalty.
Going beyond the traditional is not an easy task. However, I believe that it pays to go beyond the conventional and traditional, and trying innovative ways on communicating our brands. Our task does not end in using and utilizing the new social media to market our products or services. Well-crafted and consistent messages are also needed in marketing. In addition, I believe that marketing and public relations are should be intertwined when utilizing the power of this new mode of communication. Thus, it is in our hands, as communication experts to help entrepreneurs craft their messages and utilize the new social media to bring them closer to their respective target markets.
When Press Release Becomes Social
This decade really had revolutionized the way we communicate. With the development of internet 2.0, there had been rapid changes in the content of the internet. Websites had become more interactive. Even emails had become more useful with the integration of widgets, calendar-organizer, chat, and many other features that make it more interactive and useful, and the geeks more productive.
In the recent years, we had experienced a sudden shift in the way we communicate and seek news and information. We no longer rely on the newspapers nor to television and radio for the announcement of the suspension of classes when storm hits the metro. We no longer spend so much time texting our friends and loved ones. The new social media really revolutionized the way we communicate, interact, and digest information. We now rely on the new social media platforms for updates, for news, and for other information that we deem valuable. Everyone has now the power to author news articles, to become magazine writers, and to influence people’s thoughts.
Even public relations penetrate and utilized the new social media to reach its target audience. Through social media release, organizations reach the niche market that may influence other people. This mechanism eliminates the publisher that selects, screens, and chooses what press releases to publish on the newspaper. Eliminating the middleman therefore means a more accurate message, faster information dissemination, and greater penetration to the target audience.
Unlike the traditional channel that utilizes the spray and pray model, social media releases enables us, consumers to share, and comment it. Social media release utilizes the trust of consumers to other consumers and/or to bloggers to target a niche audience. The simplified format, which the traditional press releases fail to deliver to the public is also a factor why social media releases are effective tools of communication for the organization.
